WHEELING, W.Va. – Point Park dropped a 3-0 setback against UIndy on day two of the Wheeling Volleyball Quad hosted by the Cardinal volleyball program in nearby Wheeling, West Virginia.
UIndy swept the match by set scores of 25-8, 25-15 and 25-11.
UIndy hit .400 in the match with 38 kills and just six errors on 80 total attacks. The Pioneers struggled on the attack with 23 kills and 27 errors on 97 total attacks (-.041). The Greyhounds also held 5-1 advantages in aces and total blocks.
Nicole Reasbeck led the Pioneers on the attack with seven kills.
Leilani Fongyen and
Carson Burgh added five kills apiece.
Marianna Oyola-Rivera just missed a double-double with nine assists and nine digs, while
Brooke Bednarski added nine assists.
At the libero position,
Lily Wright recorded seven digs and three assists, while
Mia Arndt finished with seven digs.
The Greyhounds had a balanced attack, led by seven kills from Riley Laine and six apiece from Kelsey McKenney and Paige Boettcher. Macy Bruton had 14 digs for UIndy.
Point Park returns to action on Tuesday against Cal (PA) in non-conference road action. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
