PITTSBURGH -- No. 19 Point Park University swept the KIAC Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week awards on the first week of the season with senior right-handed pitcher Manny Perdomo and senior catcher/designated hitter Tyler Cattapan taking home the honors. Below is information from the KIAC Release:
Manny Perdomo, Point Park University – Baseball Pitcher of the Week
6-1 Senior – Miami, FL
Point Park University senior Manny Perdomo was named the KIAC baseball pitcher of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 3.
Point Park finished the week 3-1 after winning both games of a doubleheader with Davenport University on March 1st and splitting a doubleheader with Madonna University. Perdomo threw a three-hit shutout against Davenport. He only allowed three hits in 7 innings while striking out five Davenport hitters. The senior pitcher improved his record to 2-0 on the season.
The Pioneers are currently 4-5 overall. They will return to action on March 5th when they play a doubleheader against Benedictine University.
Tyler Cattapan, Point Park University – Baseball Player of the Week
5-9 Senior – Aurora, Ontario
Point Park University senior Tyler Cattapan was named the KIAC baseball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 3.
Point Park finished the week 3-1 after winning both games of a doubleheader with Davenport University on March 1st and splitting a doubleheader with Madonna University. Cattapan finished the week with a .500 batting average after going 6-for-12 from the plate. He recorded at least one hit in each game and had two-hit games against Davenport and Madonna. The senior catcher recorded a double, four runs-batted-in and four runs scored.
The Pioneers are currently 4-5 overall. They will return to action on March 5th when they play a doubleheader against Benedictine University
