Point Park in fourth place after First Round of KIAC Women's Golf Tournament

RD 1 RESULTS: TEAM / INDIVIDUAL

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Point Park University is in fourth place after Friday's first round of the KIAC Women's Golf Tournament being held at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky.

Freshman Priscilla Nevarez is tied for 11th place individually to lead Point Park after 18 holes. She shot an 86.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 380 to rank fourth of six teams in the first round. Point Park has a young team with three freshmen and a sophomore among its five players entered into the tournament.

The final round of 18 holes is Saturday with Point Park and the other two teams in the bottom half of the standings -- fifth-place IU East and sixth-place IU Kokomo paired together. The teams will begin on hole No. 1 at 9:08 a.m.

Brescia (Ky.) University is the first-round team lead with a score of 329. The Bearcats also have the individual leader with Courtney Lucas shooting a 5-over 77 to lead by one shot over Asbury's Julie Spaulding at 78.

Midway (Ky.) University is in second place with a trio of players tied for fourth, each with an 82. The Eagles shot 335 to trail Brescia by six.

Asbury (Ky.) University is in third place with a 352. Point Park is next at 380 followed by IU East (387) and IU Kokomo (396).

Freshman Allysa Demongone shot a 95 for Point Park, and senior Molly Burns was the next Pioneers player with a 98. Emily Madden (101) and Ellie Shaw (105) are the other Point Park competitors.
