PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University baseball had a very successful Senior Day on Saturday with the seven seniors shining in a KIAC doubleheader sweep of Asbury (Ky.) University, 12-0 and 10-3 at Point Park Field at Green Tree Park.

The seniors include four position players and three pitchers. The hitters combined to hit .579 (11 for 19), score 11 runs and drive in six.

The senior pitchers combined for seven scoreless innings with game one starter Jason Kim shoving six shutout innings on three hits and Ben Jarboe working a scoreless seventh.

Senior relief pitcher Jarrad Brown, who was not needed with the Pioneers putting up 22 runs and 27 hits on the day, got into game one as a pinch hitter and even stayed in the game for an inning at shortstop.

The senior hitters were led by Demetrius Moorer, who Asbury managed to put out only once the entire day. He was 5 for 6 with three walks, two doubles, five runs and an RBI.

Andy Chacon was another senior leader going 4 for 8 on the day including 3 for 4 with a triple and double in the opener.

Senior Shane Conley was 1 for 3, scored twice and drove in three runs on the day. Jordan Marchitello was 1 for 1 as a pinch hitter, scored four times as a pinch runner and played an inning of defense in right field.

By winning the first two games of the series, Point Park (22-20, 15-7 KIAC) strengthened its hold on third place in the KIAC, and Asbury (22-21, 12-10 KIAC) dropped down to fifth place from a tie for fourth.

Point Park was holding on to a 2-0 lead in the opener when it broke the game open with the long ball. Jake Horew blasted two homers -- a towering, two-run bomb in the fourth and a three-run shot in the fifth.

Danny Sanchez also homered in the fifth as the Pioneers' quickly put up 10 runs over a two-inning span.

The second game had Point Park get out to a 5-0 lead with clutch, two-out hitting. Horew stroked a two-out hit to drive in a run in the first. And with two outs in the second, two runs each came home on Conley's base hit and Chris Hernandez's double smash to left-center.

That's when Asbury went to its bullpen, which shut out the Pioneers the next three innings. Finally, the Pioneers got to the fourth Asbury reliever, Nichlas Collier, for five runs in the sixth.

After Asbury had come witin 5-3, the Pioneers quickly stretched things out to 10-3. The big hits were David Barefoot's base knock to score a run and Hernandez's two-run double.

That offense was in support of Nolan Krivijanski, who picked up his first complete game of the year. The junior righty gave up seven hits over his seven innings. He did not walk a batter to limit the damage and got the key strikeout when needed.

In all, Krivijanski struck out five and walked none.

Krivijanski's start gave the Pioneers two good outings on the day. The first was from Kim, who carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning and retired the first 10 batters he faced. Kim faced the minimum through 4.2 innings.

The Pioneers and Eagles continue the series with two more games on Sunday. First pitch is 12 p.m. (DH) at Point Park Field at Green Tree Park. Watch Live on the Point Park Sports Network presented by Stretch Internet at http://portal.stretchinternet.com/PPU.
