OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Point Park University men's basketball once again spotted the opponent a halftime lead and was unable to win, this time in an 84-71, loss at Brescia (Ky.) University in a River States Conference game on Friday night.
Point Park (6-12, 4-5 RSC) had its road struggles continue and is now 0-4 in RSC road games. The Pioneers fell behind, 45-26, at hafltime on Friday. That was after shooting 9 for 30 (30 percent) from the field a committing nine of its 14 total turnovers the first 20 minutes.
The Pioneers improved things after the break, but the 19-point halftime hole was too big to overcome. Brescia (6-13, 3-6 RSC) won its third straight conference game and its fourth straight win overall.
Rushan Roberts had a big game off the Point Park bench with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Asim Pleas added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. T.J. Bates made it three players in double digits with 12 points.
The Pioneers ended up shooting 38 percent for the game, which came after shooting 44 percent for the final 20 minutes.
Brescia shot slightly worse than Point Park with 37-percent shooting on the night. Guard Tavon Johnson scored 28 points, and forward Kayode Daboiku had 26 points and 16 rebounds.
Brescia beat Point Park by 10 points at the foul line. The Bearcats were 22 for 22 from there whereas Point Park was 12 for 18.
