The Pioneers enter the weekend looking to end a three-game losing streak and get back on the winning track. Point Park suffered a 94-63 loss at Lake Erie College in its last game on Tuesday, a tough road matchup versus the NCAA Division II Storm. The Pioneers continue playing on the road this weekend, which finishes up a stretch of six straight games away from home to begin the season.
Point Park returns home next Wednesday, Nov. 22 for its home opener versus (RV) Washington Adventist. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. at CCAC-Allegheny, the new home venue for Pioneers basketball.
Maine-Fort Kent, which was accepted as an NAIA member this past April 2017, has a record of 3-4 to start the year. The Pioneers will meet the Bengals for the first time since Dec. 1, 2014, which was a 94-72 home win for Point Park. The Pioneers are 3-0 all-time versus UMFK.
Point Park is 2-1 all-time versus Buffalo State with all games being on the road. The Pioneers beat the Bengals, 91-89, in the last meeting Nov. 14, 2015.
Point Park has played Villa Maria each of the last two years including home and away last season. Point Park won, 87-85, at home and lost, 109-104, on the road versus the Vikings in 2016-17. Villa Maria is unbeaten at 4-0, including a win over NAIA Madonna (Mich.).
