APOLLO, Pa. -- Point Park University women's golf opened up its fall season on Saturday with the first round of the Carnegie Mellon University Fall Shootout, and Lindsey Swanson is leading the way in a tie for fourth place after 18 holes.
Swanson shot an 83 in the first round Saturday, and she is just one shot out of second place. The Pioneers are in seventh place as a team with a score of 391. The final round is Sunday with a 9 a.m. start.
Natalie Abt of Carlow is the 18-hole individual leader with a 75. She leads the field by seven strokes, although the next 12 players are all between 82 and 85. The tournament is being played at The Links at Spring Church.
Point Park's first-round scoring also includes Emily Madden with a 100 and Alyssa Demangone and Carley Henry both at 104. Sydney Schaeffer shot 107. For the complete individual leaderboard after the first round, click the results link above.
Denison University and Allegheny College are tied for first in the team standings after each shooting 336. Carnegie Mellon and Alvernia are next in a tie for third at 348 apiece. St. Vincent (369), Westminster (383), Point Park (391) and Washington & Jefferson (403) round on the team leaderboard.
