No. 16 Point Park beats OCU, 11-1, for series sweep

XENIA, Ohio -- No. 16 Point Park University baseball made it a series sweep over Ohio Christian University with Saturday morning's 11-1 victory at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex in Xenia, Ohio. The Pioneers (25-2, 15-0 RSC) won all three games of the River States Conference set.

Saturday had lots of offense for the Pioneers -- just like the day before -- and clean pitching as well. A six-run third inning opened the flood gates highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Jake Horew and Edberg Dominguez. Horew's blast was a three-run shot, and Dominguez followed with a solo homer. The big third inning also included Cole Horew's RBI triple and Stefan Mrkonja's RBI base hit.

The Pioneers added three more runs in the fifth for a 9-1 lead. Erik Montero's double and Ben Herstine's single both brought in runs for the big hits. Point Park added single runs in the eighth and ninth innings on sacrifice flies by Cole Horew and Jake Horew, respectively.

Dominguez led the offense going 3 for 4 with his solo homer and an RBI. Montero was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and two runs. Reynaldo Adames went 2 for 2 with two walks and a run.

Nick Bucci pitched 5.0 good innings to get the victory. He improved to 4-0 in six starts by allowing only one run over his outing. Bucci gave up four hits and no walks, and he notched three strikeouts.

Point Park's bullpen covered the last four innings without giving up a run and allowed just three hits. Ryan Huber pitched the sixth and seventh innings followed by an inning each from Daryl Pino and Anthony Savarino.
