NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Point Park University men's basketball fell in a big hole in the first half at No. 23 IU Southeast and lost, 101-73, in a River States Conference men's basketball game on Saturday.
The Pioneers (6-12, 3-7 RSC) had 14 turnovers the first half, and IU Southeast (14-7, 7-3 RSC) turned those into 25 points and a 66-33 lead at the break. Point Park cut down the turnovers to six the rest of the way and outscored the Grenadiers, 40-35, the second half, but it was too late.
Point Park was ahead, 7-5, at the 16:30 mark before things turned toward IU Southeast for the rest of the half. With turnovers fueling the run, the Grenadiers reeled off the next 19 points to take control. A trey by Asim Pleas stopped the spurt with IU Southeast up 24-10.
The Pioneers shot 45 percent from the field and made 11 3-pointers but got only 56 field-goal attempts. Point Park ended up with 20 turnovers compared to 10 for IU Southeast.
The Grenadiers shot 54 percent and just like Point Park was 11 for 31 from beyond the arc. Rebounds had a slight edge to IU Southeast at 36-32.
Daniel King put up 20 points for the Pioneers. He was 5 for 10 from long range and 6 for 11 overall. Tramell Perry was a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor on his way to 10 points and four rebounds.
Kyle Carrington added nine points, eight rebounds and six assists. Asim Pleas (9) and Chance Wright (8) were the next scorers.
Jamie Johnson showed why he is a top guard in the conference scoring 25 points on 6 for 8 from 3-point range. Kerry Smith added 17, Brandon Johnson had 12, and Ezekiel Smith scored 10 on 5 for 5 from the field.

Point Park plays its next game at home Thursday, Jan. 24 versus Asbury (Ky.). Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at CCAC-Allegheny. Next weekend also includes a home date versus Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 3:00 p.m.
