FLORENCE, Ind. -- Point Park University men's golf is in eighth place after the first round of the River States Conference Men's Golf Fall Preview, which is being held at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind. The Pioneers shot 335 in the first round of the 36-hole tournament.

Matt D'Amico shot 6-over 77 to lead the Pioneers. He is in a tie for 20th of the 52 players in the field. Justin Guzik was next for Point Park with an 84 followed by Nick Bucci with an 86. Point Park's fourth score was an 88, which was turned in by both Greg Fedor and Anthony Savarino.

University of Rio Grande (Ohio) has the first-round lead with a team score of 297. That's four clear of Midway (Ky.) University and IU East, which are in a tie for second at 301. Asbury shot 303 and is in fourth place.

There were 26 players who shot in the 70s on Monday. The best score was Brady Wheeler of IU East, who fired a 1-under 70. Trey Blevins from Midway shot even-par 71 for second place, and Victor Vargas of Asbury (Ky.) University is in third with a 72. Then came six players tied for fourth with a 73.
