Point Park men start Miami trip with Friday's win at Florida National

MIAMI, Fla. -- Point Park University men's basketball started off its weekend trip to Miami, Fla., with Friday night's 99-85 win at Florida National. The Pioneers put six players in double figures to improve to 2-0 on the year and out-gun the high-scoring Conquistadors (3-4) in an NAIA matchup.

Point Park was up 48-36 at the half and then put up another 51 points in the second half. Florida National, a provisional NAIA member, came into the game averaging 91 points per game and had played many high-powered NAIA teams such as Pikeville (Ky.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

Mark Shehady, Kyle Carrington and Adam Scott all scored 13 points to tie for team-high honors. Shehady added four assists, and the efforts of Carrington and Scott came off the bench. Point Park had a total of 46 points come off the bench and got everyone involved.

R.J. Fairrow and Kameron Shockley each scored 12 points for the Pioneers' starters. Juwan Willis and Xavier Prince chipped in nine and seven points. Jesse Calloway added eight.

Thomas Dillion led all scorers with 25 points off the Florida National bench. Kenneth Santos added 20 points as those two combined for seven treys.

Point Park continues its stay in Florida with two more games: Saturday at St. Thomas (Fla.) at 4 p.m. and Sunday at Johnson & Wales (Fla.) at 1 p.m. Both of those games are in Miami, Fla., as well.
