PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University senior guard Daniel King earned a spot on the All-River States Conference Men's Basketball Second Team, which was released by the conference office on Tuesday. Fellow senior guard Asim Pleas was named to the RSC Men's Basketball Champions of Character Team.
King, a 6-2 guard from Detroit, Mich., is Point Park's leading scorer and 3-point shooter with 13.4 points per game and 63 made treys on the year. He is in his second year at Point Park since transferring from Westmoreland Country CC, and he is one of six seniors who is leading the Pioneers into the postseason.
King is among the top 20 scorers in the conference of 13 schools. He ranks along with the top outside shooters in the RSC as he is seventh in the league in made treys per game (2.42 per game) and ninth in total makes from beyond the arc (63).
There were 10 players named to the All-RSC First Team and 10 on the All-RSC Second Team. The RSC Champions of Character Team named one player from each team who best exhibits the five character values of NAIA Champions of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship.
Pleas was the clear choice for Point Park's Champions of Character representative as the leader of the team on and off the court. A three-year starter, Pleas is averaging 13.0 ppg while shooting 45 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.
The Pioneers (9-17, 5-12 RSC) are the No. 4 seed out of the RSC East in the RSC Championship. Point Park plays at NAIA Division II No. 25-ranked IU Kokomo (23-6), the No. 1 seed from the RSC West, in the quarterfinasl on Feb. 20.
