Walz ties for 2nd to lead Point Park at Westminster

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Joey Walz shot 77 to tie for second place at the Westminster College Fall Invitational to lead three Point Park University women's golf individuals competing in the event on Saturday (Sept. 21).

Walz, a senior, was three shots off the lead of medalist Erika Hoover of Westminster. Walz and Lilly Dunning of College of Wooster both shot 5-over 77. They tied for second on the leaderboard although Dunning officially got the second-place trophy on a tiebreaker.

Olivia Stawovy shot an 88 to tie for 14th place. The Point Park sophomore was one of 17 players who shot 89 or better on the day. Point Park's third individual was Megan Locke, who carded a 100 to place 29th of 46 players.

The Pioneers continue a busy weekend Sunday and Monday at the Allegheny College Kuhn Invitational with 18 holes each day at The Country Club of Meadville. One week from Monday will be the River States Conference Fall Preview Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
