KENT, Ohio -- An opportunity has called, and Point Park University men's basketball has answered. The Pioneers will get a chance to play again when they visit NCAA Division I opponent Kent State (Ohio) University on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Tipoff is 5 p.m. at the Memorial Athletic Convocation Center.

For Point Park (0-1), it will be just the second game of the year, and it will end a run of six straight postponements. For Kent State, which was 20-12 last year, it is the season opener after the Golden Flashes hit a run of postponements of their own.

The game will be broadcast by the Kent State Network with online streaming video on BoxCast. Kent State Radio will also have an audio broadcast. The Point Park Sports Network is planning an audio-only broadcast to air for subscribers as well. Check PointParkSports.com/Live for all available live media links at game time.

Point Park has not played since dropping its season opener at Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo, 81-78, back on Nov. 7. Since then, the Pioneers have had six straight games postponed. Head coach Joe Lewandowski's club had been scheduled to host IU East on Dec. 1 and visit Akron on Dec. 2.

Kent State, which has won 20 games in back to back seasons and in six of nine years under head coach Rob Senderoff, had an opening in its schedule with recent call offs. Kent State was scheduled to host Point Park on Dec. 22. But when the Golden Flashes had their matchup with Purdue-Fort Wayne postponed on Monday, Nov. 30, the Pioneers obliged the offer to move up their meeting with Kent State.

Wednesday night will be the first-ever meeting between the schools. Point Park is coming off a 15-16 record last year, a season in which it upped its win total from nine victories the year before. In their third year under Lewandowski, the Pioneers have their entire team back from last season. That includes all five starters and eight players who started at least 10 games each.

Point Park is a member of the NAIA and the River States Conference. The Pioneers were predicted to finish fifth of 13 schools in the RSC Men's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Poll. Kent State is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and is playing its 105th year of basketball.
