MUNHALL, Pa. -- Point Park University baseball improved to 10-3 on the year with Wednesday night's 6-3 victory over Chatham University at West Field.
Antonio Carrillo and Danilo Leon led the way for the Pioneers at the top of the order both going 2 for 5. They both doubled and tripled, and they accounted for four of the Pioneers' five RBIs on the night.
Three Point Park pitchers combined to hold Chatham to three runs over the course of the nine innings. Easton Klein started and pitched into the fifth inning. Jonathan Pacheco pitched the next 3.1 innings scoreless to get the Pioneers to the ninth with a 6-3 lead.
Pacheco (2-0) earned the win in relief as the Pioneers scored the final three runs of the game to break a 3-3 tie from the middle innings. Ryan Huber tossed a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his third save of the season.
Point Park was facing a 1-0 deficit after two innings. A pair of walks turned the batting order over for Carrillo and Leon, who stroked consecutive doubles to make the score 3-1. Carrillo smacked a drive to the left-center gap to tie, and Leon drove the other gap to knock in two more.
Chatham evened things up with Caleb Lehman's two-out double in the bottom of the third, which brought home a pair of runs.
The score remained tied until the seventh when Carrillo and Leon went at it again. Carrillo blasted a triple to deep left field. Leon followed with a triple of his own to right. Carlos Sanchez, who was 1 for 3, made the score 5-3 with an RBI base hit.
Pacheco struck out four and walked one in his outing. He entered the game in the fifth and stranded two runners. He also stranded a pair in scoring position in the eighth.
Chatham starter Austin Andonisio went 5.0 innings. Reliever Adam Cerrar pitched the final 4.0 innings to take the loss.
