McDERMOTT, Ohio -- Point Park University men's golf got back into action on Friday at the Shawnee State (Ohio) Invitational. The Pioneers posted a team score of 339 to place seventh.
Host team Shawnee State pushed the pace with a score of 287 to win its home tournament. There were four teams that shot 304 or better, including Ohio Christian (300), Shawnee State's B team (301) and Rio Grande (Ohio (304). IU East (314) and Kentucky Christian (326) were the other teams in front of Point Park (339).
Alex Smith shot 82 as the top finisher for Point Park. Anthony Savarino was next with an 84 followed by Anthony Santilli with an 86. Matt D'Amico rounded out the team scoring with an 87.
Next up for the Pioneers is the River States Conference Fall Preview Sept. 28-29 at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind.
