Walz 2nd, Stawovy 6th to lead Point Park women at SSU

McDERMOTT, Ohio -- Senior Joey Walz and junior Olivia Stawovy both placed in the top 10 to lead Point Park University women's golf in its first tournament of the fall season on Friday. The Pioneers played the Shawnee State (Ohio) Invitational at Elks Country Club.

Walz, from Pittsburgh, shot an 81 for second place. That was 7-over par and four shots off the lead in the field of 23 players. Stawovy, from Greensburg, placed sixth with a 92. Megan Locke carded a 102 on the way to a team placement of fourth of our teams.

Also competing in the tournament were RSC opponent Rio Grande (Ohio), Kentucky Christian and host Shawnee State.

Next up on the fall schedule is the River States Conference Women's Golf Fall Preview Oct. 5-6 at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind.
