FLORENCE, Ind. -- Point Park University is one of eight teams competing at the 2021 River States Conference Women's Golf Championship, which tees off Monday-Tuesday, April 26-27 at Belterra Golf Club in Florence, Ind. The championship features 54 holes in two days with the winner advancing to the NAIA National Championship.
The championship starts on Monday, April 26 with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. Monday's schedule features 36 holes with the eight teams put into two sets of threesomes and one set twosomes. Each team will send out five players with the four best scores making up the team score each round.
Point Park is paired with University of Rio Grande (Ohio) for the first 36 holes. The other six teams are grouped into a pair of threesomes. Point Park 's competitors are senior Joey Walz, juniors Olivia Stawovy and Megan Locke and freshmen Darian Lees and Gianna Petrarca.
The final round of 18 holes is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. with standings from the first day used to put the teams into tee times. The teams at the back of the standings will go off first, and the leaders will go out last.
The team champion will earn the RSC's automatic bid to the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship to be held May 25-28 at Rose Creek Golf Club in Oklahoma City, Okla. The top individual will also qualify for nationals as the conference medalist if they are not part of the winning team.
Also at stake this week will be all-conference honors, which take into accout the scores from the fall preview and also the 54 holes Monday and Tuesday to determine first and second-team All-RSC honors. Also named will be the RSC Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Spectators will be allowed at the championship. Fans are asked to not interact with players during the tournament. All spectators, players, coaches and staff are asked to wear masks when indoors or in close proximity to others. Carts are available in the pro shop on a first-come, first-serve basis for a fee.
