DANIELS, W.Va. -- Sophomore Julia Goetz fired the best round of her collegiate career to lead the Point Park University women's golf team in the first round of the River States Conference Fall Preview on Monday, Sept. 25. Goetz, from Taylor, Pa., is tied for 16th place of 54 golfers after 18 holes.
The tournament is being played at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. It is the conference's first look at the course, the same venue for the RSC Women's Golf Championship to be held in spring 2024. This is the first year for the RSC to go to Glade Springs after being at Belterra Golf Course for several years in Florence, Ind.
Goetz made good on her first round at Glade Springs as one of 20 players to break 90 on the day. There were just two players in teh 70s on a chilly and rainy day. Marissa Moriconi, a sophomore, shot 98 in a tie for 32nd place, and senior Darian Lees is in 48th place after a 105 on Monday.
