PITTSBURGH – Point Park dropped a four-setter against the University of Charleston on Friday evening in Mountain East Conference play at the Student Center. Charleston won the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 26-24, before dropped set three 25-20. The Golden Eagles took set four, 25-15, to put away the victory.
Charleston hit .252 in the match, compared to .087 for Point Park. UC also held an 8-7 advantage in total blocks.
Point Park continued to perform well behind the service line with 11 aces in the match.
Sara Faith led the Pioneers with 11 kills in the match, while
Giulia Follador recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Eden McElhaney filled the stat sheet on Friday night with seven kills, five aces and a team-high 15 digs.
Elise Wallace returned to the lineup on Friday and passed out 23 assists, while
Rachele Tessari chipped in 12.
Mia Arndt led Point Park in the back row with 14 digs.
Pia Selke and Kate Strong recorded 10 kills apiece to lead the Golden Eagles. Riley Hoff chipped in eight kills.
Point Park returns to the Student Center on Saturday afternoon to take on West Virginia State in MEC regular season action. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
