PITTSBURGH – Point Park dropped a 3-0 final against Carnegie Mellon on Thursday evening in a non-conference match at the Highmark Center in Pittsburgh. CMU won the match by set scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-18.
CMU held a sizable advantage offensively, hitting .254 with 44 kills and just 13 errors in the match. Point Park finished the evening hitting .110 with 29 kills and 17 errors. Both teams had four blocks in the match.
Giulia Follador and
Eden McElhaney led the Pioneers with 12 kills apiece in the setback. The duo combined for 24 of Point Park's 29 kills.
Haley Stormer recorded a team-high three blocks in the match.
Elise Wallace (12) and
Rachele Tessari (10) each recorded double-digit assists.
Follador and Tessari recorded 12 digs apiece on the evening, while
Mia Arndt finished with 11 for Point Park.
Bella Woodard paced CMU (15-10 overall) with 14 kills in the victory, while Katherine Jackson drove home 12 kills. Neha Tummala had 36 assists.
Point Park (5-17, 3-7 MEC) returns to conference play on Friday evening with a match at West Virginia Wesleyan. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
