PITTSBURGH – West Liberty took the final two sets to win a thrilling five-set match over Point Park on Monday evening at the Student Center. West Liberty held an 18-4 advantage in total blocks in the match.
West Liberty opened the match with a 25-13 win in set one, before dropping the next two sets by scores of 25-22 and 28-26. The Hilltoppers closed out the match with scores of 25-16 and 15-9 in the final two sets.
Giulia Follador led Point Park on Monday evening with a match-high 15 kills.
Eden McElhaney chipped in 12 kills and six digs.
Rachele Tessari also filled the stat sheet on Monday with 19 assists, seven kills and six digs.
Elise Wallace chipped in 19 assists as well.
Defensively, Nadi Conde finished with 14 digs, while
Mia Arndt chipped in 12.
Point Park finished the match with 46 kills and 37 errors, recording a .064 hitting percentage. West Liberty hit .132 with 51 kills and 32 errors.
The Hilltoppers got 11 kills from Kyia White, while Riley Cudnik, Ashley Cudnik and Liv McAtee chipped in 10 apiece. Grace Hill finished with 10 total blocks for West Liberty.
Point Park will remain at home to face Wheeling University on Friday evening at the Student Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
