Point Park University women's track and field competed at two different meets this weekend going to the Westminster Invitational on Saturday and the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
Natalea Hillen qualifying for the NAIA national championship in the 400-meter hurdles at Bucknell was a big highlight. The senior from Peters Township High School hit the NAIA B qualifying standard with a time of 1:04.66. That set a school record and made her the first Point Park women's qualifier in the 400 hurdles.
Hillen placed in the Top 20 in both hurdle events at Bucknell. She was 15th in the 400 hurdles and also 17th in the 100 hurdles running 14.82 seconds. Her 100 hurdles time was just over two-tenths of a second off a return trip to nationals for her in that event.
The Buckell meet also featured Allison Plassio running the seeded 800 meters. She ran a PR of 2:20 leading her heat for much of the way. Plassio ran the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:51 as well.
Jana Schmid won her heat and placed ninth in the unseeded 800 meters posting a time of 2:25.
Mya Greschner won the 400 meters at Westminster to provide an event victory there. Her time of 59.73 seconds won the meet.
Sophia Lee-Hauser placed second in the 10,000 meters with a PR. Her time of 41 minutes, 31 seconds is fourth-best in team history.
Cassondra O'Connor and Olivia Hare both ran PRs in the 1,500 meters with times of 5:04 and 5:05, respectively. That put them in eighth and ninth place. They both ran the 800 as well with Hare coming in fourth at 2:29 and O'Connor placing 11th at 2:32.
Karen Rios continued the PRs in the hurdles. She ran 18.73 in the 100 hurdles and 1:12.01 in the 400 hurdles, both career bests.
The 3,000-meter steeple chase had two more PRs with Corinne Lee-Hauser posting one at 12:51 for eighth place and Kayleigh Nagy 14:43.
Amanda Lisotto was 24th in the 5,000 meters. That was with a time of 21:48.
The Pioneers had their 4x400 relay come in seventh. Greschner, Rios, O'Connor and Hare combined on a time of 4:20.
Eden McElhaney placed 10th in the high jump clearing 1.50 meters. Nyla Rozier established a PR of 1.45 meters placing 11th.
Lina Single threw the discus 28.46 meters for a PR. She also led the Pioneers in the javelin at 30.39 meters followed by Emma Pavelek 26.71 meters.
Point Park's next competitions are April 18 at the Slippery Rock and April 20 at the RMU Invitational.
