Point Park Hosts West Liberty In White Out Game on Thursday Night

PITTSBURGH – Following a 24-hour postponement due to extreme weather in the Pittsburgh area, the Point Park women's basketball team will host West Liberty on Thursday evening at CCAC. The Mountain East Conference matchup is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
 
Fan Shuttle
A fan shuttle will be available for Point Park students beginning at 4:45 p.m. in the Student Center Lot. Shuttle services will loop every 30 minutes and drop students off at CCAC-Allegheny Gym. Return shuttles to campus will begin during the second half of the men's contest.
 
Promotions
Thursday's matchup will be a "White Out" game so be sure to wear your white to cheer on the Pioneers! Free t-shirts will be given out to Point Park University students (while supplies last) near the admissions table. We are also inviting PPU students to a pizza party during the intermission between the women's and men's game. Make sure to come out and support the Pioneers on Thursday night!
 
Tickets
Tickets for all Point Park men's and women's basketball home games will be available on game day only at CCAC-Allegheny (presale is not available). Ticket prices are listed below:
Adults: $10
Youth (Ages 10 and Under): $5
Point Park Faculty/Staff/Students: Free with valid ID

Storylines
  • Point Park has won two of its last three games, including a road victory over Frostburg State, 78-70, this past Saturday. Point Park now has an overall record of 4-11 and a conference mark of 3-7.
  • In Saturday's victory, Point Park had four players score 12 or more points, with Alexis Giles leading the team by scoring 19 points to go with three assists. Giles went 3-8 from three-point range and ranks 10th in the league in 3-point field goals this season with 27. Giles currently leads Point Park in points per game (12.4).
  • Emma Pavelek (10.8) and Camille Fultz (10.3) are also averaging double-figure scoring this season.
  • On Saturday at FSU, senior guard Aichata Ballo scored 14 points to go with 11 rebounds. The performance marked Ballo's second double-double of the season. She is currently ranked 14th in the MEC for rebounds per game, averaging 6.2 boards per game.
  • Senior Ari Bleda from Barcelona, Spain, recorded a season-high of four steals and scored 12 points against Frostburg State.
  • Point Park ranks third in the MEC in blocked shots, averaging 3.36 per game.
  • Point Park shot 40.3% from the field against Frostburg State, with their 78 points marking the second-highest total this season. 
  • The team also ranks second in the conference in defensive rebounds, averaging 29.2 per game.
 
Scouting West Liberty
  • This will be the second meeting between West Liberty and Point Park this season. West Liberty previously secured a 75-66 victory at home on Nov. 22.
  • Currently, West Liberty is on a season-high, five-game losing streak, holding a 5-11 overall record, a 3-6 conference mark. West Liberty is 2-5 on the road this season.
  • West Liberty features three of the top 10 scorers in the MEC this season: Bailee Smith (15.3), Jenna Riccardo (14.7) and Karli Anker (14.0). Riccardo is averaging 7.6 rebounds per game which ranks eighth in the MEC.
  • West Liberty ranks third in the MEC in three-point field goal percentage (32.8%).
  • Bailee Smith leads the conference with 44 made three-pointers.
  • Opponents are shooting a conference-low .249 from three-point range against West Liberty, the best mark in the MEC.
