Point Park Picked Second In MEC Preseason Baseball Poll

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Point Park baseball was voted runner-up in the 2025 Mountain East Conference Preseason Poll, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon following a vote of the league's head coaches.

Point Park is coming off a 42-15 campaign, which included an appearance in the NAIA World Series in Waleska, Georgia. The Pioneers also won the River States Conference Baseball Championship in 2024.

The Pioneers return seven all-conference selections in 2025, including first team All-RSC first baseman Isaac Santana, and outfielders Chris Williams and Jared Campbell. Santana was also named an NAIA second team All-American, while Williams was voted the RSC Freshman of the Year. Campbell was an RSC Gold Glove recipient as an outfielder.

Point Park also had four players that earned second- or third-team accolades last spring, including pitcher Ramon Rodriguez, utility player Luis Gonzalez, pitcher Javier Cardoso, and second baseman Omar Morillo.

Frostburg State topped the North Division Poll with 10 first-place votes and 46 points during balloting. Point Park received the remaining first-place mark and collected 31 points. Wheeling (26), Fairmont State (23) and West Liberty (14) rounded out the poll in the north.

In the south, Charleston topped the preseason poll with 54 points and nine first-place votes. West Virginia State was second in voting with 43 points, followed by Concord with 39 points and two first-place votes. The complete voting results are listed below.

Point Park will take the field on Friday, Feb. 21 against West Virginia Tech in its 2025 season opener. The doubleheader is slated for 12 noon at Epling Stadium in Beckley, West Virginia.
