ELKINS, W.Va. – The Point Park men's soccer team dropped a league match 3-1 to Davis & Elkins on the road on Wednesday afternoon at Nuttall Field.
Davis & Elkins got on the scoreboard first as the Senator's Francisco Lopez Kreik found the back of the net in the 30
th minute for his fourth goal of the season.
The Senators added two more goals in the second half as both Benjamin Luengo and Ikem Chinedu scored for Davis and Elkins in the 61
st and 67
th minute.
Point Park escaped the shutout as
Cheroky Briard scored unassisted in the 89
th minute for his second goal of the season for the Pioneers.
Statistically Davis & Elkins held a 28-12 advantage in shots while the Pioneers edged out the Senators 5-3 in corner kicks.
In goal,
Gregorio Capponi faced 28 shots registering six saves in the matchup. Capponi has started in every matchup for the Pioneers and has a 4-4 record on the year.
With the loss Point Park falls to 4-3 in conference play and 4-4 overall. Davis & Elkins now sits at 2-2-3 overall and 2-1-3 in Mountain East play. Point Park will head on the road on Sunday for a non-conference matchup against Thomas More in Crestville Hill, Kentucky. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
