BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Point Park men's soccer team is coming home with a 1-1 draw against the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats on Sunday evening at Culpepper Stadium. The Pioneers now move to 5-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in league play.
West Virginia Wesleyan scored an early goal in the 3
rd minute of play as Casey Bunker scored his third goal of the season off an assist from Caden Carpenter to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead.
In the 60
th minute, Point Park erased the shutout as
Ido Chalamish scored the equalizing goal for his third of the season to bring the game to 1-1.
Neither team would go on to score the rest of the match, leading to a 1-1 draw in the contest.
Point Park held an advantage in shots (14-11) and corner kicks (4-3), while each team recorded four saves in the contest. Both teams were whistled for 19 fouls on the night.
West Virginia Wesleyan's Matteo Marciani and Point Park's
Gregorio Capponi each went the full 90 minutes in goal, each allowing one goal and recording four saves.
Point Park will be back at Highmark Stadium on Wednesday afternoon as the Pioneers host Concord in an MEC matchup slated to kick-off at 3:30 p.m. following the women's game.
