PITTSBURGH – Point Park maintained its two-point lead over Davis & Elkins in the Mountain East Conference Men's Soccer standings by earning a 1-1 draw on Wednesday afternoon at Highmark Stadium against the Senators.
With the win, Point Park moved to 7-7-2 overall and 7-4-2 in the MEC. Davis & Elkins went to 7-5-4 overall and 6-4-3 in league play.
Davis & Elkins opened up a 1-0 lead in the 31
st minute with a goal by Yiftah Harari.
Then, just a minute into the second half, Point Park's
Giovanni Pezzi provided the equalizer with an assist from
Fridolin Gefrorer.
Davis & Elkins held a 10-4 advantage in on-target shots and attempted nine corner kicks in the game.
Point Park's
Gregorio Capponi recorded nine saves while allowing just one goal in the game. Among Capponi's highlights in the game were back-to-back saves in the 71
st and 89
th minutes.
Point Park will now be idle until Monday, Nov. 3 when Charleston visits Highmark Stadium for a 1 p.m. weekday kickoff.
