DANIELS, W.Va. – Point Park's
Milo Thim shot even-par during Wednesday's third round at the Mountain East Conference Golf Championships, earning second place in the three-day, 54-hole event.
Leading entering the final day, Thim birdied three holes on the front nine Wednesday before finishing the day with a 72 (E). Thim shot a two-under par 70 on Monday and shot a 73 (+1) on Tuesday. He was one of two players to shoot under-par at the championship (-1).
Charleston's Pau Sanchez entered the third round at even-par and fired a three-under par on Wednesday to take medalist honors at the event (-3).
Sanchez and Thim were joined on the All-Tournament Team by Glenville State's Daiki Aiura (+1), Wheeling's Zak Collins (+2) and Fairmont State's Caleb Young (+2).
As a team, Point Park finished in sixth place at +67 for the three-day tournament. In addition to Thim's second-place finish,
Joshua Topper finished in 24
th (+22) and
Tharcisse Kalinda took 25
th place (+24). All five Point Park golfers finished in the Top 30.
The University of Charleston took first place in the men's team standings, shooting +25 for the tournament. UC edged out Glenville State (+28) by three shots on the final team leaderboard.
In the women's tournament, Point Park's
Gabi Wait qualified as an individual in Wednesday's third round. She wrapped up play with a +26 in the third round and took 20
th place at the championship.
Marissa Moriconi (+30, +24) was in 21
st place on Tuesday and did not qualify as an individual for the final round.
Charleston's Mari Filippa Larsen edged out teammate Lucia Martin in a playoff for women's medalist honors. Both players shot +16 in the tournament. UC (+87) also ran away with the women's team championship as well, winning the crown by 32 shots over Glenville State (+119).
