CLEVELAND – The Point Park men's wrestling team competed at the Bob Del Rosa Ohio Open (formally the Ohio Collegiate Open) on Sunday, having three student-athletes turn in placements at the event.
Aiden Burford highlighted Point Park's day with a fifth-place finish at 141 pounds. Burford went 5-1 at the event, picking up one victory by tech-fall and four others by decisions of 8-0, 9-0, 13-7 and 8-1.
Isaac Placencia (165) and
Charles Perkins (174) each turned in sixth-place finishes in their respective brackets.
Placencia went 3-2 at the event with two wins by fall and one by tech-fall. Perkins also went 3-2 with a trio of decision finishes (8-7, 7-0, 12-7).
Despite not earning a placement at the event,
Liam Hein went 3-2 in competition at 149 pounds. He earned one tech-fall victory while winning two other bouts by decision.
Point Park will now prepare for the Shorty Hitchcock Invitational hosted by Millersville University next Saturday. Competition will get underway at 10 a.m.
