JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Point Park's second-half comeback attempt fell short as Pitt-Johnstown picked up a 92-75 win over the Pioneers on Tuesday afternoon at the Sports Center in Johnstown.
With UPJ leading 64-43 at the 13:39 mark of the second half, Point Park went on a 20-6 scoring run to cut the Mountain Cats' lead to just seven (70-63) at the midway point of the second half. However, UPJ pushed the lead back to double-digits just four minutes later and closed out the win.
UPJ shot 56.5 percent from the floor (35-62) and held a 46-24 rebounding advantage in the win. The Mountain Cats scored 56 points in the paint and had 19 second-chance points on the afternoon.
Point Park shot 43.8 percent from the floor (28-64) and had 10 three-pointers in the game.
Aidan Anderson scored a team-high 22 points to go with five rebounds for the Pioneers.
Grant Welch also chipped in 20 points, including 5 three-pointers in the game.
Keelen Allen and
Jayden Davis also reached double-figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Davis also passed out a team-high six assists.
Pitt-Johnstown had five double-figure scorers, led by Baben Forup with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Vinnie Cugini also chipped in 17 points and nine rebounds.
Point Park returns to action on Sunday afternoon with a road game at Tiffin University. Tip is set for 1 p.m.
