HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Point Park women's track and field team finished runner-up at the 2025 Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships, which wrapped up on Monday night at the Chris Cline Sports Complex at Marshall University.
The University of Charleston took home the championship with 178.5 points, followed by Point Park (95) and West Virginia Wesleyan (90) in the top three.
Emma Pavelek highlighted the individual performances on Monday, winning the MEC Championship in the high jump with a mark of 1.67m. Teammate
Dunya Van den Tooren finished runner-up in the event after accomplishing the same mark of 1.67m in her second attempt.
Van den Tooren also finished third in the pentathlon (3115) and seventh in the long jump (5.35m) on Sunday. As the highest point scorer among freshman at the championship, Van den Tooren took home MEC Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year honors.
Additionally, Point Park head coach
Tim Creamer was voted among his peers as the MEC Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.
Diamond Rush also wrapped up her championship with a pair of school record performances in the 200m and 400m on Monday. She improved her record time from Sunday in the 200m at 25.01, while also finishing the 400m with a record-breaking time of 57.20.
Point Park added two additional podium finishes on Monday, with
Cassondra O'Connor taking third in the 3000m (10:08.49) and
Jana Schmid placing third in the 800m (2:18.80).
