BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Point Park's
Crixtian Taveras has been named the Co-Mountain East Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. Taveras shared honors with Fairmont State's Cameron Moore this week.
Taveras, a senior infielder from Long Beach, Calif., hit .556 with a 1.222 slugging percentage as the Pioneers went 2-1 on the week – including an impressive 10-6 road win at No. 12-ranked Seton Hill (Pa.) on Tuesday. Taveras homered twice and drove in nine runs while scoring five times himself in the three games.
Moore, a sophomore outfielder/designated hitter from Charles Town, W.Va., swung a hot bat for the Falcons last week, batting .667 with four doubles and six singles in 15 at-bats. Moore drove in five runs and scored six more as Fairmont State won twice in three outings.
Concord's Jack Robinson was also honored as the MEC Pitcher of the Week.
