Taveras Voted MEC Baseball Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Point Park's Crixtian Taveras has been named the Co-Mountain East Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. Taveras shared honors with Fairmont State's Cameron Moore this week.

Taveras, a senior infielder from Long Beach, Calif., hit .556 with a 1.222 slugging percentage as the Pioneers went 2-1 on the week – including an impressive 10-6 road win at No. 12-ranked Seton Hill (Pa.) on Tuesday. Taveras homered twice and drove in nine runs while scoring five times himself in the three games.

Moore, a sophomore outfielder/designated hitter from Charles Town, W.Va., swung a hot bat for the Falcons last week, batting .667 with four doubles and six singles in 15 at-bats. Moore drove in five runs and scored six more as Fairmont State won twice in three outings.

Concord's Jack Robinson was also honored as the MEC Pitcher of the Week.

The MEC weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
