CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Jared Campbell hit a grand slam to lead Point Park to a 7-0 victory over Fairmont State on Sunday afternoon during the 2025 Mountain East Conference Baseball Championship game at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston.
Campbell was named the tournament's most outstanding player after hitting two grand slams and five home runs during the 2025 MEC Baseball Tournament.
In Sunday's championship game,
Javier Cardoso II (10-3) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and finished the the afternoon allowing just one hit while striking out six.
Ethan Parker pitched a the final two and two-thirds innings and allowing just two hits to close out the championship victory.
Chris Williams put the Pioneers on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI single to left field to score
Trevor Jones from second.
Point Park plated its second run in the bottom of the fifth when
Crixtian Taveras was walked with the bases loaded. During the next at-bat,
Jared Campbell hit a grand slam to left field, his fifth of the tournament to make it a 6-0 advantage for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers added an insurance run in the sixth when
Omar Morillo reached on a fielder's choice and scored Williams from third.
Williams led the Pioneers at the plate by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
In addition to Campbell being named the Tournament MOP,
Omar Morillo,
Harold Boyce and
Javier Cardoso II were named to the All-Tournament team.
Point Park's 2025 season wraps up with a 41-13 record and third-consecutive conference tournament championship after winning the River States Conference Tournament title in 2023 and 2024.
