PITTSBURGH – After a highly decorated playing career and a four-year run as Pitching Coach on Loren Torres' baseball staff at Point Park University, Nick Beardsley is stepping away from the Pioneer program to pursue career opportunities outside of baseball.
 
As a member of the PPU coaching staff, Beardsley helped Point Park to three conference championships (2022, 2024, 2025) and two NAIA National Tournament appearances in 2022 and 2024.
 
"I've made the difficult decision to step away from coaching here at Point Park," said Beardsley. "It was not an easy decision, and I just want to take a moment to say thank you to Point Park and everyone who has been a part of my journey here.
 
"Point Park has been a huge part of my life for 11 years and there were a lot of great memories along the way. I'd like to say a huge thank you to Coach Torres for giving me the opportunity to play for him, learn from him, and eventually coach alongside him."
 
In 2025, Point Park's first year competing in NCAA Division II, Beardsley helped Point Park to the school's first Mountain East Conference North Division and Tournament Championship, with the program recording the best record in the league that spring.
 
That season, Point Park ranked second in the MEC in ERA while Javier Cordoso II earned All-Region accolades under Beardsley's leadership. During the MEC Championship run, the pitching staff went 4-0 with a 2.91 ERA.
 
"Nick was not only one of the best players Point Park has ever had, but he was an incredible coach, leader and person," said PPU head coach (Loren) Torres. "We wish him well in his new endeavors as he builds a family and joins the corporate word. Beardsley is standing tall as he departs our program, and he leaves us with a sense of pride and direction we can continue to build on."
 
Beardsley also helped Point Park rank first in the River States Conference in ERA in 2022 and second in 2024.
 
As a player for the Pioneers from 2016 to 2021, Beardsley recorded a record of 20-8 with an ERA of 2.48. In 2021 as a senior, Beardsley set program records for strikeouts (272) and innings pitched (247). He still holds the strikeout record today.
 
He was a first team all-conference selection after going 8-4 with a 3.53 ERA and 108 strikeouts as a senior. He also earned the Don Kelly Award as the top male athlete at Point Park that season.
 
As a junior in 2018, he turned in a record of 7-2 with a 2.28 ERA, highlighted by his complete game performance against Cumberland in the NAIA Playoffs.
 
A year earlier, he went 5-1 with a 1.93 ERA. That season he threw a no-hitter against Ohio Christian (4/1/17) and went on to earn NAIA National Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
He was a second team All-RSC selection in 2017 and 2018, while earning conference player of the week honors five times during his career.
 
After graduation, Beardsley played three seasons professionally, beginning in 2021 for the Houston Apollos of the America Association. During that stop, he made one start while coming out of the bullpen. In 2022 with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League, he split time as both a starter and relief pitcher.
 
In Staten Island in 2023, he was a primary starter while playing in the Atlantic League.
 
Beardsley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports, Arts and Entertainment from PPU in 2019. He obtained a Master of Business Administration in the spring of 2021.
