BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Point Park baseball program had eight All-Mountain East Conference honorees on Tuesday afternoon, including outfielder
Jared Campbell as the 2025 MEC Player of the Year and head coach
Loren Torres as the league's Coach of the Year.
The all-conference selections were headlined by first team selections
Omar Morillo (2B),
Jared Campbell (OF),
Javier Cardoso II (SP) and
Harold Boyce (RF). Third-baseman
Luis Gonzalez, shortstop
Crixtian Taveras and outfielder
Trevor Jones were named to the All-MEC second team.
Campbell, a senior outfielder from Sunrise, Fla., ranked fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.372) and led the league in home runs (14), RBIs (50) and slugging percentage (.737) during the 2025 regular season. He also recorded 58 hits, 13 doubles, 55 runs scored and has the second highest on-base percentage in the league (.495).
Torres, in his 16
th season as Point Park's head coach, led the Pioneers to the MEC North Division Championship and No. 1 overall tournament seed in the Pioneers' first season as a member of the conference and NCAA Division II. Point Park went 22-6 in league play. This is Torres's seventh conference coach of the year honor, including his sixth as PPU's head coach.
FIRST TEAM ALL-MEC
Morillo, a senior second baseman from Barinas, Venezuela, ranked second in the MEC this season with 68 hits, including seven home runs, 13 doubles and one triple. Morillo hit .354 on the year and drove in 35 runs. He also ranks second on the team in stolen bases with 15.
Cardoso, a senior right-handed pitcher from Miami, Fla., finished the season with an 8-3 record and 3.45 ERA. He made 11 starts with two complete games and a 1.20 WHIP. For the season Cardoso allowed just 23 earned runs and recorded 42 strikeouts.
Boyce, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Los Angeles, Calif., finished the season with a 5-2 record, 3.34 ERA and five saves. He made 18 appearances and six starts, recording two complete games, two shutouts and 46 strikeouts. Boyce allowed just 21 earned runs on the season and opposing batters hit just .227 against him.
SECOND TEAM ALL-MEC
Gonzalez, a junior third basemen from Caracas, Venzuela, batted .266 on the season with six home runs, 13 doubles and 31 runs batted-in. He had a .450 slugging percentage and 25 runs scored this season.
Taveras, a senior shortstop from Long Beach, Calif., batted .361 during the regular season with eight home runs, 14 doubles and 48 RBIs. He also recorded 48 runs scored, had a .590 slugging percentage and ranks third on the team with 11 stolen bases.
Jones, a freshman outfielder from St. Petersburg, Fla., batted .339 this season with three home runs, seven doubles and three triples. He also drove in 21 runs and had a .541 slugging percentage while making 31 starts as a freshman.
