ATHENS, W.Va. – Point Park dropped a 4-0 final in its Mountain East Conference opener against Concord on Wednesday afternoon in Athens. Concord netted one goal in the opening half, before scoring three times in the final 45 minutes to seal the win.
Point Park falls to 0-2 on the season following the defeat. Concord improves to 3-0 on the year, including 2-0 in conference play. The Mountain Lions have now outscored opponents 11-3 this season.
Concord's Kai Forsyth scored two goals to lead the Mountain Lions, while Julian Correa and Jaden McKree also found the back of the net in the game. Ted Roberts recorded two assists for the Mountain Lions.
Offensively, Point Park was led by two shots apiece from
Rocco Domenighini and
Guy Lehrer. Domenighini and
Ido Chalamish each recorded on-target shots for the Pioneers.
Gregorio Capponi recorded eight saves in goal for the Pioneers.
Statistically, Concord outshot Point Park 23-8, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal. Concord also held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Point Park continues conference play on Sunday at Wheeling University. Kickoff is slated for 12 noon.
