NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – For the second-straight weekend, Point Park's
Cailyn Casto took first place in her pool during Sunday's Spartan Mat Classic hosted by Manchester University.
Casto went 4-1 over the weekend, winning by tech fall in the opening round before taking three other bouts by fall to land on top of the podium. In her final bout, she defeated Manchester's Claire Bennett by fall at 2:12.
In 180 competition,
Payton Moyer finished runner-up with a 1-1 weekend. She won with a first-minute fall in the opening round, before dropping the final by fall against Huntingdon's Aniyah Griffin.
Evelyn Hippensteel and
Daniela Contin also placed fourth at the Spartan Mat Classic with standout performances in the 110 and 124 classes.
Hippensteel won by fall over Indiana Tech's Izabella Hall in the opening round, before falling in the championship rounds to finish fourth.
Contin also picked up a round-one victory over Indiana Tech's Courtney Thrash, before dropping two in the championship rounds.
Additionally, Point Park's
Elizabeth Watts earned a round four pin over Manchester's Honesty Lacy in 138 competition.
The Pioneers will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Warrior Open in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The two-day event gets underway on Friday at 2 p.m.
