UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Point Park women's wrestling featured eight competitors at Sunday's John Carroll Open. The Pioneers totaled three top-four finishers in Payton Moyer (second place - 180), Cailyn Casto (third place - 160) and Rei Vlahov (fourth place - 110) in the team's penultimate meet of the season.
Moyer, who finished seventh in the 180 bracket at last week's Warrior Open in Indiana, defeated wrestlers from Waynesburg (TF 10-0) and Mount Union (Fall) before falling in the 180 first-place match.
Casto went 4-1 on the day, winning two matches by fall and one by tech-fall in her third-place podium finish. Casto is now 20-7 on the season.
After winning by decision in the opening round, Vlahov defeated teammate Evelyn Hippensteel to advance to the semifinals of the 110 bracket, before falling in the third-place match by pin. Hippensteel earned a sixth-place finish in the 110 bracket.
Kaitlynn Plopi captured seventh place in the 145 bracket.
Point Park will compete in its final meet of the season next Saturday at Frostburg State's Bobcat Open in Maryland.
