FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Three Point Park women's wrestlers earned placement at this weekend's Warrior Open in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Payton Moyer placed seventh at 180, while
Cailyn Casto (160) and
Kaitlynn Plopi (145) took eighth in their respective brackets.
After earning two byes in the 180 bracket, Moyer dropped two bouts by fall before winning the seventh-place match by fall over Otterbein's Kaitlyn McCann. On Friday, Moyer recorded the first five-point move in school history.
Casto wrestled in the maximus (invite) 160 bracket and went 2-3 over the two days of competition. She won by technical fall (10-0) over Lourdes Payton Curley in the first round, while winning by 11-4 decision over Eastern Oregon's Hannah Hernandez in her third bout.
Plopi wrestled in the 145 bracket and went 2-3 at the event. She dropped her first bout by fall, before winning back-to-back matches by fall over Alma's Madesyn Wheaton and Georgetown's Brilynn Gemmer.
Despite missing placements,
Elizabeth Watts (138) went 4-2 at the Warrior Open, while
Daniela Contin went 3-2 wrestling at 124.
Point Park returns to action next Sunday at the John Carroll Open in University Heights, Ohio.
