Pioneers Soar Past Falcons, 63-47

Boyd posts best double-double by a Pioneer in three years

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park women's basketball took down Fairmont State on Wednesday night, 63-47, at CCAC-Allegheny, fueled by Elizabeth Boyd's 23 points and 22 rebounds.

Boyd, who has now posted double-doubles in five of her last six games, achieved season highs for the Pioneers in both points and rebounds, including the most rebounds in a game since Point Park began its transition to NCAA Division II athletics. No Pioneer has posted such a stat line since Taylor Rinn accomplished the feat on Feb. 22, 2023 (36 points, 23 rebounds).

Boyd also led the game in field goals made (8) and her four blocks tied with Camille Fultz for the most on the night.

Point Park (7-16, 4-14 MEC) received 18 points from Fultz, who added 14 rebounds for an impressive double-double herself. She shot 5-of-11 from the field and knocked down eight of her 10 free throws - a game high.

Point Park shot 36.7% from the field and scored 30 points in the paint compared to 20.5% shooting and 20 paint points from Fairmont State (18-7, 12-6 MEC).

After trailing by four at the half (31-27), Point Park limited Fairmont State to just 4-of-41 (9.8%) from the floor in the final 40 minutes of play.

Entering the night as the MEC's best rebounding team, PPU totaled 67 rebounds - 24 higher than its average - compared to the Falcons' 38. Point Park entered second in the MEC in blocks per game (4.18) and added 15 blocks on the evening. In addition to Boyd and Fultz, Lucia Hervia added three blocks.

Pittsburgh-native Zaniya Murray led Fairmont State with 16 points, five rebounds and six steals. Leila Jones' nine rebounds led the Falcons.
