HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Akeem Mustapha and
Dunya Van den Tooren were each named MEC Championship MVP as well as Field Athlete of the Year, as Point Park track & field closed the MEC Indoor Championships on Sunday. Both the men's and women's teams finished second in the tournament.
On the women's side, Charleston took home the championship with 140 points, followed closely by Point Park with 114 and West Liberty with 82. The Charleston men pulled away with the title with 177 points, followed by Point Park (83) and Frostburg State (79).
The Pioneers finished with a total of 14 top-three finishes, including eight on Sunday.
Mustapha repeated as MEC long jump champion on Saturday, and he finished second in the high jump and third in the 60m on Sunday. Mustapha, who holds the program record in the high jump of 2.02 meters, cleared a mark of 1.95 meters on Sunday. Mustapha's 6.90-second time in the 60m was .03 seconds shy of his second-best time in PPU history.
Van den Tooren opened the MEC Championship taking second place in the pentathlon - setting program records in the pentathlon (3,533) and the high jump (1.74 meters). On Sunday, she won the MEC Championship in the high jump with her height of 1.63 meters (.09 meters shy of her program record). Van den Tooren also took second place in the triple jump, setting a mark of 11.76 meters, good for second-best in program history.
Her mark in the triple jump accomplished an NCAA provisional distance.
ON THE PODIUM
Mya Greschner was the MEC Champion in the women's 400m. Greschner posted a time of 48.57 seconds in the event. Greschner's time was .61 seconds shy of her second-best time in program history.
Maxwell Eaton reset his program record in the 400m, finishing in 48.35 seconds - good for second place in the event. Eaton broke his own program record, which he set on Saturday, by over half a second.
Kamar Sutherland took home the silver medal in the 60m hurdles with his time of 8.07 seconds. Sutherland's time is good for a new program record. His time ranks 39th in all of NCAA DII with the provisional mark.
Cassondra O'Connor finished third in the 3,000m, earning an All-MEC honorable mention recognition in the event. O'Connor finished with a time of 10:11.58. She set the program's third-best time in the 3,000m in January.
In addition to her third-place mark in the 3,000m, O'Connor also took second in the 5,000m on Saturday.

Men
- Christian Reid - 400m, 49.20 seconds - second-best time in PPU history (previously fifth).
- Gavin Glass - 60m hurdles, 8.44 seconds - third-best time in PPU history (re-sets his third-place time).
- Andrew Hartung - heptathlon, 4,037 points - new program record.
- Andrew Hartung - pole vault, 3.97 meters - third-best mark in PPU history (previously fourth).
- Trey Jones - heptathlon, 3,800 points - second-best total in PPU history.
Women
- Cassondra O'Connor - mile, 5:10.66 - third-best time in PPU history (previously fourth).
- Lotte Zethof - mile, 5:11.57 - fourth-best time in PPU history.
- Mya Greschner - 200m, 22.07 - second-best time in PPU history (re-sets her second-place time).
- Khady Ndiaye - high jump, 1.55 meters - ties fifth-best mark in PPU history.
- Khady Ndiaye - triple jump, 11.59 meters - fourth-best mark in PPU history, ranks 55th in NCAA DII.
- Tanais Rojas - triple jump, 11.04 meters - fifth-best mark in PPU history.
