Boyce Tabbed as MEC Pitcher of the Week

Boyce becomes second Pioneer in a row to earn the honor

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Point Park's Harold Boyce was named MEC Pitcher of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, on Monday the conference announced. 

 

Boyce, a senior from Bakersfield, Ca., threw a no-hitter on Friday for the Pioneers, the first in program history since Nick Beardsley, Point Park's current pitching coach, accomplished the feat on Apr. 1, 2018.

 

Boyce pitched seven shutout innings on Friday, striking out five batters and walking zero. Boyce only allowed two baserunners all game - both of whom were hit by pitches. He is allowing a batting average against of .164, which leads the MEC. 

 

Boyce is the second Pioneer to win the award in as many weeks, with Ramon Rodriguez earning the honor last week. 

 

The Pioneers will be back in action on Tuesday against Walsh, opening up a five-game road stand. Point Park will play doubleheaders at Glenville State on Saturday and at Concord on Sunday.
