PITTSBURGH -- Point Park women's lacrosse fell to Wheeling 18-8 on Saturday in the team's first-ever conference game.
Wheeling (4-4, 1-0 MEC) jumped out to an early lead, scoring four goals in the opening five minutes and taking an 8-0 lead into halftime. The Cardinals added two goals in the first two minutes of the third quarter to take a 10-0 lead.
Point Park (2-5, 0-1 MEC) would score four of the next five goals in the quarter, including three unanswered. Kiley Leasure got the Pioneers on the board first with Alexandra Hrkach adding on and Andrea Kinger scoring two of her team-high three goals to bring it to a 13-4 contest.
Wheeling would go on to score four unanswered goals over four minutes.
The Pioneers featured five goalscorers with Kinger scoring a hat trick and Leasure adding a brace. Hrkach, Tessa Hueber and Presley Masters all scored for Point Park, with Masters scoring her first collegiate goal.
Gracie Favela's two assists led the team and Tessa Hueber added an assist.
Kinger also tallied 10 ground balls - good for the team high. Isabella LaVenice recorded eight and Alayna Zell, Hrkach, Hueber and Ava Miller all added six.
Trinity Rose led the game with six goals and 9 points for Wheeling. Jovie Noack recorded four assists to lead the Cardinals.

Point Park hits the road in MEC play for two games, visiting WV Wesleyan on Thursday and Davis & Elkins on Sunday. Opening draw for Thursday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Buckhannon, W.Va.
