ELKINS, W.Va. -- Point Park women's lacrosse fell to Davis & Elkins in a 14-13 overtime thriller on Sunday in MEC play at Nuttall Field. The Pioneers fell to 3-6 (1-2 MEC) in their inaugural season with the defeat.

Point Park battled back from an early 7-3 deficit to force overtime with Andrea Kinger scoring one of her game-high five goals with 2:46 remaining in the fourth quarter. Talia Berardo, who also scored five goals, potted the winner 1:41 into the extra period.Â

Kinger led the team with five goals and 6 points and was one of two Pioneers to record an assist. Kiley Leasure scored a hat trick, Gracie Favela added a brace, and Alexandra Hrkach, Emma Diaz and Tessa Hueber all tallied. Hueber also recorded an assist.

The Pioneers hopped out to an early 3-1 lead over the Senators (7-3, 1-2 MEC), with Leasure, Diaz and Kinger all tallying over the first seven minutes. Davis & Elkins responded with a 6-0 stretching into the second quarter.

Point Park boasted a 5-2 run to close out the half, with Leasure and Favela both scoring twice and Kinger tallying. Leasure made it a 9-8 game with 10 seconds remaining in the first half on an unassisted goal.Â

It took Tessa Hueber 14 seconds to make it a 9-9 game to open the third quarter. Hueber was one of three Pioneers to tally with Hrkach scoring and Kinger scoring twice to give PPU a 12-11 edge.

D&E scored twice to begin the fourth and Kinger added Point Park's lone goal in the final frame, ending regulation 13 all before Berardo's overtime winner.Â

Kinger led the team with 12 shots and nine shots on goal. Leasure was second in both categories, posting eight shots on goal across nine shots.

Tessa Hueber and Taylor Desko tied for the team lead in ground balls with four. Hueber shared the top spot in draw controls with Kinger on Sunday, posting five apiece. Desko added four draw controls of her own. Entering the game early in the second half, goalkeeper Isabella LaVenice posted a .500 save percentage over her 31:20 of action. LaVenice recorded five saves.Â
