Point Park, Frostburg State Open MEC Tournament Wednesday

WHEELING, W.Va. -- Point Park women's basketball will open the MEC Tournament, presented by The Health Plan, against Frostburg State on Wednesday. Opening tip is scheduled for noon at WesBanco Arena.

Point Park (8-18, 4-16 MEC) capped off its regular season with a win over Salem, 66-56, on Saturday. Camille Fultz notched a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to finish as one of four Pioneers with double-digit points. Alexis Giles (17 points), Lucia Hervia (12) and Kamryn Pieper (10) also reached double-figures.

Point Park, which ranks as the second-best blocking team in the MEC, posted eight blocks on Saturday, led by Hervia's three. 

Entering as the 10th seed, the Pioneers will play the seventh-seeded Bobcats (14-14, 9-11 MEC). FSU enters tournament play following a 90-66 loss to Fairmont State on Saturday. Point Park is 1-3 against Frostburg State all time, including losses in both matchups this year.


STORYLINES

  • Point Park has qualified for the MEC Tournament for the second time in as many years. The Pioneers fell to West Virginia State in the first round last year 82-58.

  • Elizabeth Boyd was named 2026 All-MEC Honorable Mention on Monday. Boyd is averaging 9.4 rebounds per game, which puts her in second place in the MEC. Boyd is second on the team in points per game with 12.9. She has 11 double-doubles and four 20-point scoring performances this season.

  • Camille Fultz leads Point Park in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game, good for 10th in the MEC. Fultz is coming off a double-double on Saturday with 19 points and 11 boards. Fultz has scored in double figures in all but six contests this season, including in eight of her last 10 games. She passed the 1,000-point scoring mark back on Dec. 3 against Wheeling.

  • Kamryn Pieper and Boyd both rank in the top four in the MEC in blocked shots. Boyd is second in the conference at 1.4 per game, while Pieper ranks fourth at 1.3. Pieper has 35 blocks on the year and Boyd has 33.

  • Alexis Giles played in her 100th game in her career on Feb. 14, and she has started 95 games. Giles surpassed the 1,000-point mark back on Jan. 17. She now sits at 1,161 career points. Additionally, Giles reached 100 total steals in her career against Davis & Elkins on Feb. 2.

  • As a team, Point Park leads the MEC in rebounding (43.5) and ranks second in blocked shots per game (4.81).
