DAVENPORT, Fla. – Point Park ended its southern road trip in the sunshine state by falling to Concordia St. Paul by a 9-4 final on Monday afternoon at Northeast Regional Park.
Point Park returns to Pittsburgh to begin conference play with an overall mark of 5-5 on the season. CSP moved to 7-9 on the season.
Concordia St. Paul opened up a 9-0 lead after six inning and never trailed.
Blake Ewing took the 0 off the scoreboard for Point Park with a solo home run to left field in the eighth inning. Ewing now has four home runs on the season.
In the ninth, Point Park added two more runs, starting with
Felix Gonzalez crossing home plate following and error by the Concordia St. Paul second baseman.
Luis Gonzalez drove home the final run of the game on a groundout later in the evening that brought home
Chris Williams.
Point Park had five hits in the game, including Ewing's home run and singles by
Carlos de la Vega,
Trevor Jones,
Olindo Pezzone and Sabastian Hernandez. Williams had two stolen bases and was walked twice.
Concordia St. Paul had 11 hits in the game, including a triple by Gus Berger and doubles from Charlie Harms and Will Husemann.
Point Park will not prepare for conference play on Saturday with a twinbill against West Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
