MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Point Park track & field will close the 2026 season on Saturday in the WVU Last Chance Open.
Point Park finished the MEC Outdoor Championships on Apr. 28 with both the men's and women's teams taking second place overall. The Pioneer men tallied 93 points, and the women totaled 166 over the three-day meet.
Akeem Mustapha was named Men's MVP and Track Athlete of the Year at the Championship. Mustapha earned MVP honors at the 2026 MEC Indoor Championships as well. He successfully defended his MEC Championship in the long jump, having won the event in 2025 and 2026 and was named All-MEC Second Team in the 100m. Mustapha also garnered an All-MEC Honorable Mention in the triple jump.
Dunya Van den Tooren was named Women's Field Athlete of the Year after she earned MEC Championships in the high, long and triple jumps. Mya Greschner was named MEC Champion in the 400m, a title she also claimed at the Indoor Championships. Greschner was also a member of the 4x400m relay team which captured MEC gold with its 3:52.74 finish. She anchored Aubrey Smith, Olivia Hutcherson and Diamond Rush as the team set a program record. The team set the 58th-best time in all of Division II athletics.
Kamar Sutherland picked up an MEC Championship in the 110m hurdles. Sutherland took first place in the preliminaries as well, setting a program-record time of 14.14 seconds.
USTFCCCA WEEKLY POLL
Point Park's women's team currently sits in eighth place in the Atlantic region U.S. Track & Field Cross and Country Coaches Association poll for week six. The Pioneers have been in the top 10 in every poll. Point Park's men's team remained in 11th place in the poll, just shy of the top 10.
