PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Point Park dropped a pair of 3-0 finals to open the 2026 season at the Storm Volleyball Classic on Friday afternoon.
In the first match of the day, Point Park fell to Slippery Rock by set scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-15. In the second match, Seton Hill defeated the Pioneers by scores of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-20.
Vs. Slippery Rock
Sara Faith and
Carson Burgh led the Pioneers against Slippery Rock with six and five kills, respectively.
Patricia Calero-Irizarry finished the match with three kills and three blocks.
Mia Arndt led defensively with nine digs.
Marianna Oyola-Rivera and
Brooke Bednarski totaled nine assists each.
Point Park held a 6-3 advantage in total blocks, but the Rock countered with a 9-2 margin in aces. Slippery Rock also held sizable advantages in both kills (38-22) and digs (47-32).
Vs. Seton Hill
Irizary and Burgh recorded six kills apiece to lead Point Park against Seton Hill.
Savannah Kitchen chipped in three more kills. Arndt recorded a team-high eight digs, while
Nicole Reasbeck and
Te'Jah Montgomery had six apiece against the Griffins.
Oyola-Rivera and Bednarski led the Pioneers in assists with 12 and 9, respectively.
Seton Hill held statistical advantages in kills (41-22), aces (12-4) and digs (36-29).
Point Park returns to action on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Lake Erie.
