The 2012 baseball team went 53-11 during the 2012 season, advancing to the NAIA World Series. After sweeping its way through the NAIA opening rounds with wins over Taylor and Doane on back-to-back days, the Pioneers opened world series competition with a 7-3 win over the College of Idaho. In game two of the world series, Point Park dropped a 9-3 final against Lee University.
 
After an off-day, Point Park got back in the win column with a 12-8 win over the University of South Carolina-Beaufort. The campaign came to an end with a narrow 8-6 setback against Rogers State as Point Park finished the year setting a school record for wins.
 
The 2012 Pioneers were led by eight America Midwest All-Conference standouts, including Pitcher of the Year Derek Peluso. Paulsen was joined on the All-Conference first team by Sean Clark, Mike Tullio, Tom Birko, Rob Novia, Javy Marticorena and Marlon Leyva. Nate Spohn was named second team all-conference that season.
 
In addition, head coach Loren Torres was named the American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year.
 
In 2012, the Pioneers ranked top 25 in the nation in earned run average (3.11), total runs scored (462), total RBI (391), runs scored per game (7.3), and total hits (587). The team ranked sixth nationally in the final NAIA Baseball Top 25 Poll.
